In-store user manual for Elgiganten

In this article, we will cover everything from how you can connect to a local network on a monitor to how you can troubleshoot a black screen that doesn't display intended content.

General requirements

These are the general requirements that needs to be fulfilled for any screen and player to function:

  • Power
  • Network (Wifi or Lan)
  • Switched On

Transport, unpacking, and mounting

Before starting the installation, it is advisable to check for damage to the packaging and monitor. In case of suspected damage to the screen, please take pictures of the box before opening it.

Carefully unpack the monitor from the box and check it for any physical damage. Take pictures of the screen and report damages immediately.

The screen must be appropriately mounted for the ventilation to work. In the event of incorrect installation, the warranty will be violated and invalid. The "tag" with the Samsung logo should be to the right if landscape or face down if portrait (rotate 90 degrees clockwise).

Network connection

Once the monitor is mounted and connected to a power source, you will have to connect the monitor to the network to install and use OMNIplay. Most monitors have access to both Wi-Fi and ethernet, but we always tend to recommend using ethernet.

Verify network connection on screen

Using the remote control for the Samsung Monitor:

  • Press [Menu]
  • Select Network
  • Select Network Status

Samsung Network Status

The monitor will search for an active network connection, and let you know if it's connected and ready to use. In the event that the network connection fails, you can select Network Settings in order to configure necessary settings to connect to network.

Install and start OMNIplay application

In most cases, the OMNIplay application is already installed on the monitor before shipment. If the configuration hasn't been ordered, the monitors will be shipped without OMNIplay installed. If OMNIplay is not installed, you can install the web application using the remote control.

  • Press [Menu]
  • Select System
  • Select Play via = URL Launcher

If Play via is unable to adjust, the source has to changed. Change the source to HDMI and retrace the steps as mentioned above.

Once URL Launcher is set for Play via, we are ready to insert the URL to install OMNIplay from the web application.

  • Press [HOME]

Samsung URL Launcher

  • Select URL Launcher - Settings from the tooltip

On older Samsung versions, you will have to select Change URL on the top right of the interface. In the event that you are installing OMNIplay on an older Samsung monitor, you can skip the next step.

  • Select Install Web App
  • Enter:
Every letter has to be lower case in order for the installation to be completed.

For older Samsung versions, the URL is slightly different:

The installation will now start to download. To force the installation startup, press [Home] and select URL Launcher. Once the OMNIplay application is running, it will ask for a license key.

  • Enter license key

If the monitor is factory new, the setup is slightly different. Please read more on how to setup OMNIplay on a factory-new Samsung monitor here

Change channel

Once the OMNIplay application is running and a license key has been entered, you will be able to change among available channels.

  • Press [CH] to open the channel list

Change channel

  • Use the arrows on the remote to navigate through the channel list
  • Confirm channel selection with Enter key

Enter key is located in the middle of the arrows

Screen is black

A black screen can come from a variety of reasons. One can waste much time trying to solve an issue if the real problem is that it only has no power, so let's start with the simplest ones:

  • No Power.
  • Not turned on.

Once you can verify that the monitor is connected to power and turned on, we can move over to the more advanced troubleshooting. A helpful tip is to look for error messages on display, which will give you an indication of where the error is located.

  • Verify that the monitor or external media player is connected to a network. This is often the root of most content display issues. The device will not have access to the content published to DatabeatOMNI if not connected to a network. If only the old content is displayed after you have published new content, this may indicate that your device has lost its network connection.
  • Check to see if the channel has active content playing. If the channel is lacking content, No valid content in selected channel will be displayed

  • Verify which source the monitor displays.
    • If OMNIplay is installed through the internal player in the monitor, the monitor has to start the application "OMNIplay" to display content. Press [HOME] to prompt the tooltip and select URL Launcher
      • In some cases, the name "URL Launcher" is changed to "Databeat SSP."

    • If you are using an external media player (OMNIplay3), the monitor has to display the source in which the media player is connected to. In most cases, this source is HDMI. Press [Source] and select an active source.
  • The license key is wrong or not longer available. If this is the issue, the display will show No valid channel subscription. Contact Databeat to receive a new license key.
