Step 1: Before you begin

Requirements

Please ensure you have the correct and necessary requirements before you begin.

  • LG public display with WebOS 6.0.
  • LG remote with charged batteries. (IR sensor may need to be connected)
  • Power cable and socket available.
  • Internet connection via cable or Wi-Fi credentials. Read more
  • OMNIplay license key. Read more

Transport, unpacking, and mounting

  • Inspect. First, check the packaging for damage. Take a picture of the packaging before unpacking if you suspect any damage.
  • Unpack. Carefully unpack the public display and check it for any physical damage. Take pictures of the screen and report damages immediately to your supplier.
  • Mount. The screen must be mounted properly for the ventilation to work. We recommend checking the device manual for instructions, to avoid breaking warranty requirements.
(I.E. specifically rotate the screen clockwise to show content in portrait.)

Please contact your reseller or administrator if you have any issues.

Step 2: Configure the LG device

Ready to use

After starting up the device the first time you will be prompted to select the type of setup.

  1. Select Go to settings
  2. Select Start

If you are not prompted with this, the device may have been in use before and we recommend doing a factory reset. (Settings Menu/Admin/Factory Reset)

LG device configuration

You need to edit the settings in the LG menu to prepare the device for use with OMNIplay.

Setting up the LG display in portrait orientation?
If the LG display did not automatically rotate after selecting "Go to settings", you can manually adjust it in the LG menu now. Select Display and then edit Rotation settings.

General/Time & Date

  1. Select General, select Time & Date
  2. Enable Set Automatically to ON
  3. Select correct Time Zone
  4. Select correct Country
  5. Select correct City or the capital city of the country
  6. Press Return on the remote to go back to General settings

Time & Date settings are now set to sync via the internet based on Time Zone, which includes DST. We do not recommend using NTP unless required by your organization.

General/Network connection

  1. Select Network
  2. Select Wired Connection or Wi-Fi Connection
    1. If Wired: verify the network connection, cabling, and network configuration.
    2. If Wi-Fi: Select a Wi-Fi Network and connect with the required credentials.
  3. Press Return on the remote to go back to General settings

General/Power

  1. Select Power
  2. Disable No IR Power Off (4hour)
  3. Press Return on the remote to go back to General settings

Unfortunately, the default LG setting is to have "No IR Power Off (4hour)" enabled. This means that the device will turn itself off after 4 hours if no user has used the remote control (infrared). After installing OMNIplay the display power (ON/OFF) settings are and should be remotely controlled by the location's service hours in DatabeatOMNI.

Step 3: Install and configure the OMNIplay application

Since the device now has power, the correct time & date settings, a network connection, and will automatically turn on in case of a power cut, it is ready for the OMNIplay app to be installed.

  1. Select EZ Settings in the menu on the top left
  2. Select SI Server Setting
  3. Select SI Server Setting again
  4. Ensure Fully Qualified Domain Name is ON
  5. Enter the full URL addresshttps://www.databeatomni.net/lg6
LG WebOS SI Server Setting - Installing Databeat OMNIplay on LG Public displays
  6. Set Application Launch Mode to Local
  7. Set Application type to IPK
  8. Set Local Application Upgrade to Remote
  9. Set Auto Set to OFF
  10. Select Confirm for Application Upgrade
  11. Select OK
  12. Reboot with the Power button on the remote and wait for the app to install and start.

The LG device will from now on launch the OMNIplay app when starting up.
If any issues occur, please verify the setup and especially the URL to be correct.

A functional network connection is needed to download the application from the DatabeatOMNI server. Your network policies may not allow traffic with DatabeatOMNI  server as default. Please try another network or sharing network via phone to test the connection. If you are stuck, please support@databeat.net for more information.

Step 4: Configure the OMNIplay license key

Finally, the OMNIPlay app has started for the first time and will request a license key.
The license key is unique to the device and will instruct what to do and when to do it.

  1. Enter the license key you have for the specific device and press enter. (I.E. LGABCD1234X)
  2. The device should then reboot and load the OMNIplayer settings for that license key.

The LG public display is successfully configured with OMNIplay, congrats!

If configured in DatabeatOMNI, it will start to play content and report to DatabeatOMNI for remote administration. If not then press 4 to select a channel or log into your DatabeatOMNI account to remotely manage your new Lucky Goldstar (LG) OMNIplayer.
